POETRY

Me and My Willy

My bleeding heart goes out to you
My Willy goes there too
And if you treat them lovingly
They'll come right back to you

I can't deny my heartfelt love
To do so would be silly
Straight from the Moon and Stars above
(And also from my Willy)

The two of us are passionate
We truly love you, really
We love you like a cat loves rats
Me and my collie Willy

What's it to You?

A frown is just a clown turned upside down
A rooster's just a chicken with a crown
Influenza is a bug that goes downtown
A town is just a city settled down

A mime is just an actor stuck in time
Novels are just poems devoid of rhyme
A mountain's just a molehill gone insane
A monkey is a man without a brain

Slink #2

Weekly sessions at the spa
Could never give her what she wants
The melody of who she was
Teases her and taunts
Me clear from there to here
But she used to be a babe
A robber smile, an angel wink
Shyness masked by mystery
A little girl in search
Of who she was
Insecurities
Are not what I observed
She was a slink
An unadulterated drink
Of Chardonnay
She could disarm me with
An accidental turning of the hips
Downcast eyes and upturned lips
All knowing and unknown
A tootsie roll
Inside an egg
By Fabergé

Supercession

I've only got myself to blame
Once, at the level of a human cell
I reticulated her sarcoplasm
To divide her attention and divine my inspiration
How wonderfully cellular of me
She's not the person that she used to be
But then again neither am I
How can I change my mind?
When not a single Golgi body remains
From thrilling days of yesteryear
Peek-a-boo at a real world pace
Forty years of hands before my face
And when the hands fall away
Not one damned cell has stayed in place
Everything has changed
Nothing but now she says
Nothing but now
Yesterday's yesterday
Is absolutely, positively, definitely gone
I am sure of this
I cannot love somebody whose every cell
Was not alive when I was
